Michelin’s Protek Max Inner Tubes repair your bike’s flat tire before it happens

Have you ever been out riding your bike and gotten a flat? Let me tell you, it can be a much bigger hassle than a flat on your car, especially if you ride on trails through the woods. First, you won’t have a spare tire. Second, there’s no handy service like AAA that will bring you a new one. Oh, and don’t forget about the possible lack of cell phone service. You’re pretty much stuck dragging your ride back to civilization, which can take hours, depending on how far you’ve gone. Well Michelin wants to put that sort of hassle behind you with their new Protek Max inner tubes.

What’s so special about these new tubes? They’ve had their shape designed much differently than previous ones. The unique design allows for the tube to compress when poked or punctured. By compressing around the hole (instead of expanding), this allows it to actually close up. The tubes also contain a sealant, which when combined with the compression, will repair the hole without you even knowing it happened. Self-sealing inner tubes? Sign me up for a pair. As for the price, these will only set you back around $9 each.
