If you want to travel long distances, there’s a good chance that you’ll consider flying. After all, in an airplane, you can travel to the other side of the country in a matter of hours, rather than days. Of course, if you’re driving, you don’t have to worry about an annoying passenger sitting next to you. Wouldn’t it be great if you could not only pick where you sit, but who you sit by? Soon you will.
KLM Royal Dutch airlines will be rolling out a feature called Meet & Seat that allows you to select who you sit by, based on a social media profile. Imagine being able to peek at the Twitter feeds or Facebook profiles of the people you can sit next to. If you share some of the same interests as one, you can opt to sit next to them. If they agree, then your seats will be assigned together. On the other hand, being able to Facebook stalk people on your flight is just a little creepy, which is why the service will be completely optional. This will be an interesting feature to watch, as it may be adopted by other airlines in the future.
