The Military Mosquito Countermeasure

The time for gardening and summer fun shall soon be upon us. Although, with warm weather comes mosquitoes, which no one is particularly fond of. We use candles, sprays, and bug zappers to rid ourselves of them, but they always seem to find a way to our flesh. You’d think that by now we’d have a better way to rid ourselves of these pests.

This is why the Military Mosquito Countermeasure is the best portable solution to drive away those blood suckers. It uses something called d-cis/trans allethrin, which is a synthetic version of a naturally occurring insecticide that would be found in chrysanthemums. The repellant mat slides into a metal grill, and a butane-fueled heater will vaporize the repellant in the mat to make an unbearable 15′ x 15′ zone that mosquitoes don’t want to pass into. The butane cartridge will last for 12 hours, while the mat will only last 4. The starter kit gives you three mats and one butane cartridge for $20, but a replacement set of four butane cartridges and 12 repellant mats costs $15. All in all you would be looking at about $35-40 if you wanted this to last you for a week or two.
