Social Video Electric Eyewear are unlike conventional sunglasses.
These electric-powered sunglasses let the shades lighten or darken -through their chromatic shifting conductive glass lenses – with the press of a button. AND they contain a tiny camera able to record 720p video directly through the wearer’s eyes. Utilizing a pinhole set between the two lenses, what gets recorded will be as close as possible to the world as the wearer sees it.
The video is saved to a microSD card but unfortunately the battery only holds a 2-hour charge. But what’s recorded would then be shared via YouGen.TV, a video-sharing site which can connect with social networking platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
These cool sounding sunglasses are currently in the Kickstarter funding mode. Vergence Labs, their creator, has already surpassed its original fundraising goal of $50,000, so hopefully this new brand of sunglasses – to be called Epiphany Eyewear – will become a reality soon!
