It must be hard being a consumer tech designer nowadays. All those options, and the different materials to play with. It must be impossible to try and come up with something that looks a little different and yet remains ‘desirable’, know what we mean?

This Doss Asimon Bluetooth Speaker is a case in point. As you can see from the image, it looks a little like a jam jar, and indeed the marketing blurb even boasts of the fact with a hint of quiet pride. But we’re thinking, do you really want your music and hands-free phone calls coming from a kitchen utensil?

Or is this the start of a new trend where we’ll answer calls using our egg whisk, or listen to Bach with our spatula? The mind boggles. Anyhoo, this puppy features 360 degree sound, 30 foot wireless Bluetooth range and an extended battery which will delivery music for up to 8 hours off a single charge, which isn’t shabby. Priced at $49.99.
