Music Modem – The sweet old-school sounds of jumping on the Internet

Music Modem

Back in the old days, when people wanted to get on this new-fangled thing called the World Wide Web, you had to treat yourself – and those around you – to the sweet melodies of the modem, which sounded vaguely like dragging nails across a chalkboard. Now those iconic eye-watering noises can be used to create music.

Kids these days don’t know how easy they have it. They can jump online, update their Facebook status, and log off without anyone knowing about their activities. This stealthy move used to be impossible. In the days of dial-up, even the neighbors would know you were getting on the Internet. The Music Modem brings back those classic sounds, letting adults enjoy a bit of nostalgia as they terrorize their children with the dreaded ‘Technology That Was.’

Back in the wild west days of the online world, everyone tolerated the screeching noises associated with getting online. As the old saying goes, everyone was doing it. These days, an attempt to use a modem might get you shot. Does dial-up even exist in the 21st century? Seems like all the pop-ups, videos, and GIF’s would kill any computer that tried connecting that way.

Fortunately, this modem doesn’t try to connect to the Internet. Its sole reason for existing is to… well, it’s to bug people. Three modes, five tones, and eight notes (full octave) exist for no other reason than to annoy people with the sounds they hoped they would never hear again. It’s truly awesome, and it can be yours for $29.99.
