If you’re a big user of Skype you’ll know that there are a number of addon tools you can use to make it work better, including some call recorders which let you capture conversations and store them in a variety of formats. But for the most part they’re either restricted (typically 15 min calls for free) or not very easy to use.

Which is why finding iFree Skype Recorder is so cool. This tiny free utility installs in an instant to your Windows computer and thereafter delivers a really easy to use way to record all your Skype calls with the click of a button.

The software comes with a number of useful customization options, including automatically recording calls when your Skype session starts (no need to hit the record button), and also the ability to capture MP3 audio up to very high quality bit rates. For most purposes, however, you’ll probably just need the defaults, to save on file space.

We particularly like the history feature, which gives you a clean view of all your past recordings, which are time and date stamped for easy reference. The whole thing is a doddle to set up, taking around 60 seconds, after which you just give it access to Skype once and you’re set. Very slick indeed. Recommended.

If you’re looking for a cool and very functional Skype recorder for Windows, then this is the one you should choose. If you’re a Linux user, try Skype Call Recorder.
