Bluetooth Auto Connect – an awesome cure if you’re fed up with your Bluetooth gadgets not connecting properly [Freeware]

Anyone who’s ever struggled to get their Bluetooth accessory to connect to a phone or tablet will know exactly how frustrating this clever but flawed technology can be. Sure it’s the lynchpin behind almost all fitness, health, music and ion-car gadgets, but boy is it annoying when it fails to connect, or forgets the pairing. But now there’s a very cool free app which could change all that and make our lives infinitely easier.

Bluetooth Auto Connect is a free Android app which does what Bluetooth should do by default and forces your gadgets to talk and connect together nicely and automatically. The app can be set to automatically connect your phone or tablet to the last used accessory, or a specific device and you can even set the priority for a particular device. So for instance you can ensure that your Bluetooth keyboard connects automatically to your tablet whenever Bluetooth (BT) is switched on. Brilliant! But that’s not all.

The app can also be set up to run a specific app when BT is active, so you could set it up to run a car dock app when it connects to your car’s BT network on starting a journey, and you can trigger various actions when the phone or tablet senses a dock, or charger connection. Oh and you can also set it to switch off BT if there’s been no activity for x minutes. Lovely stuff!

There’s a huge wealth of settings you can fiddle with to get your Bluetooth environment running exactly as you want, and if you’re using things like health or fitness accessories, you can also set the app to run a specific external task (you’ll need Tasker to do this), which is absolutely amazing. This gives you the power to set up any number of permutations depending on what connects to your device.

The only thing you have to be aware of is the fact that your devices need to be able to pair and connect manually for this app to work (in other words it won’t fix situations where you can’t connect in the first place), but if you can, then this is an absolute gem of an app to have on any Android device you have. We’re going to install it on our TV Android box to auto connect the Bluetooth keyboard, which will save a lot of fiddling about. Superb!
