Coffee Break Grooves – these backing tracks are the next best thing to having your own jam band in the bedroom

Whether you’re a learner or a pro musician, you can never practice too much. In fact, the brutal truth is, unless you practice regularly, you’re probably never going to be fully satisfied with your playing, no matter what instrument you favor. That’s why it’s great when we find services which offer to help you practice and have fun at the same time.

Coffee Break Grooves is a treasure trove of downloadable backing tracks in a variety of keys and tempos which have been recorded by top class session musicians. They are recorded at the highest MP3 resolution of 320 bps, and most importantly last for 15 minutes each clip. This is definitely not one of those cheapo 2 min clip loop things which are recorded on a synth, this is the real deal.

There are over 500 tracks available on the site, available for instant download along with all the chord charts, which is pretty awesome. You can also buy 120 minute albums of backing tracks in your favorite style, like blues, jazz, rock, reggae etc, and they’re also segmented into genres suitable for guitarists, drummers, sax players and bassists, so there’s literally something for everyone (apart from Bassoon players maybe).

You can audition every track before you download, and if you’re still undecided, there are a bunch of free tracks available on the team’s YouTube channel, as well as some cool free guitar lessons in different styles based around the tracks. The key thing is these are all real musicians playing real instruments, which means you get the true ‘feel’ of the tracks, perfect for getting your groove on. Now, where did we put our Georgie Benson signed plectrum?
