Games Old vs New – mind-blowing look at how your favorite game has changed over time

The good folk from Liberty Games sent us over a fascinating little project for all you gamers out there. The Videogames Old vs New site offers a side by side comparison look at some of the most popular games of all time. Comparing what they were like when launched to today’s version. The difference is mind-blowing, and it’s not just the graphics that have improved.

Take Grand Theft Auto, for example. This started out as a simplistic top down sandbox game, single player and 640×480 resolution graphics. Grand Theft Auto V in contrast is an unbelievably rich 2nd person actioner with 1920×1080 graphics and nearly 44 million sales. My, how times change.

My personal fave is alien basher Halo, which was just superb when it came out, and has enjoyed a stellar reputation since then. And of course the world now awaits Halo V. Check out the rest of the titles on offer, it’s a fascinating look at the history of the world’s favorite digital pastime.
