Amazon shipping is moving towards one day shipping on orders for Prime members and although this is exciting for everyone getting packages, it’s not such great news for the environment. That instant gratification delivery can mean an increase in carbon footprints across the board.
Many people use Amazon to order everyday things. Better prices and easier availability combined with free, fast shipping means that a lot of people end up ordering things one by one instead of doing so in bulk. But all the driving and packaging creates more emissions.
Although this won’t truly be one day shipping for many people, particularly those who live outside of major cities, it’s still important to be mindful of the practice. If you can wait to place an order, it would better to order a few things at once rather than one or two things every day or so. Resist the draw of instant gratification if you can.
