SimCam is a great online tool which lets you play around with those important features of a digital camera which you may never have really understood, and get an idea of how they affect your photos. Things like aperture, shutter speed, film speed etc. What’s really cool is the fact that you get to see a realtime picture which changes as you alter settings, so you really learn how to use the manual controls. And remember kiddies, at the end of the day it’s manual control that helps you get the truly outstanding images, not the cookie cutter automatic or ‘best shot’ modes. The rest of the Photohead site is also worth a look if you want to learn more.
The SimCam is an online camera simulator designed to teach basic photographic principles. Whether you are interested in film or digital photography, the concepts are the same.
