Swivel is apparently a place where we can all ‘explore data’. What that means is we can all play with uploaded statistics and produce pretty coloured graphs and pie charts to show off to our friends and colleagues. It’s actually not a bad idea in this new ‘Web 2.0 do it all on the Web’ world, since it should make it easier for business groups to get together and share and compare their data in meaningful ways. We’re just not sure how many ordinary Joes are going to spend time uploading Excel spreadsheets just to distribute a pretty graph. Time will tell.
Swivel lets you explore data and share your insights with others. Swivel has data about politics, economics, weather, sports, business and more. Swivel is full of good stuff. We think of it like this: * Explore popular data or obscure data. Search for it or have fun cruising all the colorful graphs, data sets and opinions. * Compare gas prices to presidential approval ratings or UFO sightings to iPod sales. You might find a crazy coincidence or something more. * Share your insights by posting a graph to your blog or emailing a link to your friends and coworkers. * Upload the information you care about, describe it, pick a color scheme and even pick a cool photo to bring it to life. If you’re curious about data, Swivel is the place for you.
