ZiiTrend. A kind of social network for wannabe futurologists? The idea is that you get together with others and stick your finger in the air to predict what will happen tomorrow, next month, next year or in the next decade and beyond. On first glance it’s easy to write it off as a huh?, but it’s actually quite well designed, and once the numbers start to rise it might well be useful as a statistically significant – albeit screwed by web/tech bias – sampling tool. Currently however, the results are not that hot (only 30% predicted that Gore would win the Nobel Peace Prize for instance).
The site comes with a bunch of interesting social networking fluff thrown in, like commenting, background to the prediction, performance results and the like, and overall I can see this becoming an interesting tool in the same way that polls are so popular. What they need of course is traffic….? But don’t they all? Worth a look.
Oh and Which Company will The Red Ferret Journal Buy This Year?
