Locate TV is a new television search engine which gives you a fast, clean search service for programs and movies on your box. The interface is lovely Web 2.0, it’s international (US & UK) and you can embed a widget into a web page to receive reminders when the show or film is about to be broadcast. But to be honest it’s not got the power or flexibility of my fave TV Genius (which unfortunately is still UK only), but which lets me set up automatic email or SMS alerts to remind me when a movie or show is about to come on the box.
Now if the two could be combined I’d get the best of both worlds. I’d get a brilliant search engine, with detailed episode and production information, plus an awesome email and text reminder service which would make sure I never missed another wishlist broadcast again. I’d also love for a service like this to hook up with a recommendation engine like Criticker or MovieLens, so it would automagically remind me when films it thought I’d like were about to appear on the box. That would be pretty amazing. Ah well, maybe one day….
