SciVee is a multimedia based science web journal, which is trying to deliver more value for researchers than simply submitting a dry paper to a peer reviewed publication. Simply put, it’s a place where science geeks can hang out and shoot the breeze (in a serious and earnest manner of course).
OK, so it’s a little bit of a marginal application, unless you’re directly involved in science, research and the like, but it’s still a very interesting example of how net technology is likely to change the way things are done in the future. Operated in association with the Public Library of Science.
SciVee allows scientists to communicate their work as a multimedia presentation incorporated with the content of their published article. Other scientists can freely view uploaded presentations and engage in virtual discussions with the author and other viewers. SciVee also facilitates the creation of communities around specific articles and keywords. Use this medium to meet peers and future collaborators that share your particular research interests.
