    looks like a great machine but in general, why do all the mp3 units out there that contain a radio just include FM and not AM too??

    why no AM radio? AM has a real problem with interference, both due to the nature of AM modulation, and also the many logic clock signals in electronics splatter across the broadcast AM wavebands.
