G100 GumEase – dental surgery without needles or pain?

Gumease

The new G100 GumEase promises to give pain-free dentistry without the need for nasty needles jabbed into your tender parts. Just stick the thing in the freezer for half an hour, then pop it into your mouth over your gums. The reusable device will freeze your gums and make them impervious to pain, drilling and all dental work side-effects. If the effect starts to wear off, just pop another popsicle into your mouth and carry on. Sounds a little too good to be true, but sheesh what do we know? [Via Engadget]

The easy-to-use, disposable device is a breakthrough in pain management – as effective as it is inexpensive. Inserted easily into the upper and lower sulci, the latex-free device delivers a soothing, cool temperature to the maxillofacial nerves, quickly diminishing pain across a wide area of the mouth. In patient tests the new gumEase diminished pain by 90% in 2 to 3 minutes for the average participant. Patients can apply them post-operatively as needed, and reuse without side effects by storing in a household freezer… Effective for fillings, extractions, crowns, root canals, cleaning, scraping, braces adjustment and other procedures.

  1. Briceyoder says:

The gumEase dental mouthpiece has been scientifically designed and developed to achieve a regional pain block through the local application of extreme cold to nerves. By near-freezing the nerve fibers, the nerve temporarily stops transmitting pain impulses providing drug-free pain relief.

It can also be used to reduce post-operative pain and dramatically decrease the need for postoperative medication
