Yezz Andy A5 – a budget Android smartphone? I’ll stick with my iPhone for now, thanks… [Hands-on]

The Yezz Andy A5 Android smartphone was released earlier this year, and we recently got a chance to go hands-on. If you aren’t familiar with Yezz (as I wasn’t), it’s a smartphone handset supplier that specializes in budget devices, including smartphones and tablets. Their devices work on most GSM networks (including T-Mobile and AT&T in the US), and they all ship unlocked, so all you have to do is pop in a SIM card and you are set to go….

iKettle – lets you boil your kettle with your smartphone

Nowadays technology has made us all a bit lazy. Lazy enough to sit in front of the computer whole day looking at cute kittens and Instagramming our food. Even boiling a kettle for a couple of minutes seems like a waste of time which could be spent posting on Facebook. Wouldn’t it be awesome if our kettle was smart enough to boil the water on its own? So we could spend more time doing these all important things we love,…

Kapture – record life’s best moments with a single tap

We have all experienced something worth recording in our life, be it the first words of a baby, a hysterical joke by a friend, or maybe a genius thought at some random time. Though smartphones and tablets already provide a solution for capturing audio it’s not simple. By the time you take out your phone the moment is usually gone.

AB Shutter – wireless remote makes it easy to take cool self portrait photos with your phone [Review]

Have you ever been in the situation where you want to take a photograph of the two of you together on vacation, but there’s no-one around to help out? Or you’re trying to grab a cool shot of you in front of that rare Sumatran tiger, but you’re not sure you can trust any nearby stranger to get it right (or not run off with your phone?). Alive Video Wallpaper is the first HD live video wallpaper for Android which doesn’t suck [Freeware]

There’s a bunch of live wallpaper apps out there for Android, which typically come with a variety of different features and formats. Some are little more than animated slide-shows, others deliver pitifully low resolution video or stutter badly in operation. But to date there’s been no real ‘practical’ video wallpaper product which didn’t suck up all your phone’s processing power or battery life.

Survival Guide makes your smartphone a lifesaver [Freeware]

Never mind the hassles of fighting your way through department store sales day, you never know when things could get really rough. Like, eat or be eaten rough. And when that day comes you’re going to need a friend close by who can stop you doing stupid, and ensure that you have at least a fighting chance of surviving one night without peril.

iStuck gives your $1000 smartphone that added bit of class

What can we say about the iStuck Bubble Gum Phone Stand that will do it justice? Could we rave about the aesthetics of the design? Or wax lyrical about the colour options (pink!). Or perhaps we could mention that the product was inspired by a visit to a nearby High School classroom desk? Whatever we come up with, will not do this perfect smartphone accessory justice, that’s for sure. For those with an interest in the technicalities, the phone stand is made of rubber, and works…

EyeAlert helps you stay connected with your Bluetooth phone or gadget

There are four million mobile phones left in taxis each and every day by forgetful people. OK, so we’re probably exaggerating a touch, but it’s a huge number in any case, and we bet that every one of those good folk said ‘it’ll never happen to me’. The fact is that we do forget things all the time, and it can be massively annoying and disruptive.
