Wear that error with pride!

You’ve slagged them off in print, laughed at them in the movies, now why not wear them on your chest? The ErrorWear range of T-Shirts lets you wear those annoying computer errors right there where everyone can see them. Never be stuck for a ‘fatal exception error’ or ‘request time out’ again. Inkjet cartridges too expensive?

Here’s a typical CNN tech report slamming the inkjet printer manufacturers for making the price of the refills so expensive. Now there’s no doubt that the branded refills are very expensive, but I reckon that this is not as bad as it looks. Before the dirt cheap inkjet printers came along we were all forced to pay 800 or more for black and white laser printers if we wanted any kind of decent printing capabilities. Suddenly we were presented with…

Hop-on disposable mobile phones

Wow, it looks as though the Hop-On disposable phone may really be coming to the market in force soon, since it has just been reported that Intel has agreed to supply chips for the new model. Are these things really going to be viable, I ask? As yet I have not seen any in use, but since they’re predominantly for the US market that might not be so surprising. Each phone holds 60 minutes of prepaid call time and can…

A tale of two city cars

So here on the one hand is the benevolent story of Nissan Motor company’s Carwings product – a soft female voiced persona which is now being offered as an optional extra in certain Japanese vehicles. The persona does things like read out email and the weather and offer directions to nearby amenities, there to help out the poor struggling driver make sense of the chaotic roadways. What it most certainly does not do is read out the rather unpleasant story…

Mark Fiore – cartoons

A compilation of provocative and rather funny animated cartoons from the hands of Mark Fiore, political ‘toonist from San Francisco. Don’t go here unless you enjoy being challenged by some rather pointedly observed opinions. In other words if you’re easily offended, this is probably not the site for you!

Internet Explorer spell checker

IESpell is a free Internet Explorer extension that lets you spell check the text you enter into forms and text boxes on a Web page from within the browser itself. It’s one of those little browser toolbar add-on buttons which sounds useful, but will probably only come into its own if you spend a lot of time entering in data online. But what the hey, it’s free.

Footy fever!

Well it’s almost time once again for the frenetic football thrash they call the World Cup and for those who want to get more involved this year I highly recommend Nigel Thomas’ Ltrack program. It’s a little Windows freeware package which lets you track all the goings on in a football competition, including player and team statistics, league and ladder fixtures and even referee performance. The program sports a veritable host of reporting and graphing capabilities and really is an…

New Matrox Parhelia video card details leaked.

The Ferret first reported rumours about a new Matrox video graphics card on the 12th March and now it looks as though the launch is imminent – on the 14th in fact. Of course the Internet has got there ahead of time and already details have leaked out to enthusiast hardware sites. The best – if quite techy – report is here on Digit-Life.com where the company’s new Parhelia 512 video chip is dissected at length, along with a detailed…

Hidden Windows software

To round off the Windows theme today, a quick mention of a set of Chris Pirillo tips, which show just how useful his work can be. Here he points out a few of the hidden programs which are buried inside Windows XP, including a rather neat self-extracting executable creator and even the old Windows media player (which means that I don’t have to fire up the bloated new version every time I want to listen to or watch something).
