The Anti-Snoring Ring.

The Anti-Snoring Ring. Or to give it the more formal title, the StopSnor Anti Snoring Sterling Silver Ring. Wear it on the little finger of the left hand and let acupressure accomplish what science and medicine apparently cannot. Of course it works, silly. Of course. No question. Nope. $129.95, but reduced for special offer to $49.95. Oh please someone buy it and give us a report…  The StopSnor antisnoring ring gently massages a universally recognised pressure point in the little finger of…

DIY book scanner.

How to build your very own automatic book scanner using an eraser, a few bits of LEGO, a laptop and an upside down Epson flatbed scanner. It’s slow yes, but think of the long term implications…[Via GizmoWatch]

Vanilla forums.

Vanilla Forums. Free Open Source PHP/MySQL application which offers a twist on the usual boring forums concept. Definitely worth a look.  With Vanilla we wanted to break the mold created and followed by just about every other forum on the web. We sat down and thought about what we liked, and more importantly, what we didn’t like about web forums. We wanted emphasis on the discussions rather than the statistics.

Astonishing CGI.

The Flowlines CG software from German company Scanlines really does show just how incredible – with a capital I – modern computer generated graphics can be. We’re talking photo-realistic and mind-boggling.  Flowline is Scanline’s Inhouse Software designed to handle all types of effects. It is a new approach to Hydro Fluid Simulation and Rendering for Fire, Water, Oceans, Smoke, Clouds and other effects…

Biometric advance.

Biometric fingerprint scanning technology appears to be evolving in quite interesting ways. Take this Ibidentifi system which does all the usual scanning stuff to protect your computa, but also includes an ‘alarm finger for duress’ feature. If you’re being forced to scan your finger to gain access, you just use a specially pre-chosen finger and lots of very silent alarms will be set off. I think it’s called duress finger mode. Interesting.

The Power Plate.

The Power Plate is apparently the hottest thing to hit the ‘get fit, get skinny’ brigade since the invention of  low fat celery. You stand or squat on the thing and it jiggles your important little bits to strengthen, tone and build up muscles. Cost yer £2,599.00 for the privilege, but it must be tax deductible somehow, shirley?  The special vibrating platform stretches the muscles, which activate Tonic Vibration Reflexes. Because the Power-Plate vibrates at 30 to 50 times per second,…

My Photo Booth.

My Photo Booth Camera. What’s really weird about Polaroid is that you write them off, cast them aside as a bankrupt technology and generally treat them like dirt, and back they come, ready for more. Time and time again. So here we are with a delightful little plaything dear reader, an instant buddy sharing camera. Kind of Peer to Peer really. £44.95.   The My Photo Booth camera has a mirror below the camera lens, just like a real photo…

Velocipede.

The Carbon Chassis Velocipede. Apparently this is the world’s first carbon fibre velomobile. Me, I just like the colour. That splash of yellow, mind you, will cost ya an eye watering $13,999.95, so don’t wait up dear.  The interior has a recumbent seat with variable longitudinal pedal geometry for a customized fit that maximizes comfort and pedal power efficiency. A Shimano derailleur and SRAM Gripshift Rocket shifter on the hand control allows smooth, shudder-free shifting. The velomobile has a headlight,…
