Rebtel.

Rebtel low cost mobile call service. Billed as the new way to call the world from your mobile phone. It’s kind of a callback service where you set up local geographic phone numbers at both ends of the chat and use these numbers on your mobile handset to connect via the Rebtel service. If it sounds complicated that’s because it is, a bit. The service charge is $1.00 for every week that you use it. Sign up didn’t work for me, which is not…

The Soundwalk Speaker Harness. Yep, extreme speakers for extreme activities. A body harness that holds two small amplified speakers at shoulder level to give you that hands-free ‘surround sound experience’ from your audio player. You know, when you’re cycling, running, or otherwise hand-busy. No more ear-ache from earbuds, and look ma, there’s a space to store your mobile phone too. Rad! Around $73.00 if you can find it outside Korea.

Dude, forget about that two second tent, or even the solar powered self lighting version. What you really really need is an instant dog house. For those times when your argument moves at the speed of light. Heh, waddya mean it’s too small?  $79.95.  Unlike traditional dog houses that are heavy and require time-consuming assembly, this is the comfortable, well-vented pet shelter that pops up or folds away in less than five seconds. DIY Home Theater Star Ceiling.

When uber geek Danny Mavromatis decided to build a full blown retractable roof fiber optic star ceiling for his home theater he decided to do it properly. How properly? Well think 11,000 feet of fiber optics, 350 fiber constellation stars, 600 fiber Milky Way stars, 40 hours just to pull through all the twinklers and 36 fibers for a 12 foot shooting star track. Phew. I bet it’s pretty cool when you’re watching Star Wars though, eh?  I ran out of fiber again. Another 1500’ should…

Slipstreamz for cycling.

Slipstreamz Cycling Earwear for Headphones. Listening to your iPod while cycling can be a bit hazardous to your health if you fail to hear that 10 tonne truck behind you. Which makes these headphone more than a useful accessory. They hold your earbuds outside the ear so you can hear other stuff, and also act as wind breakers in cold air, which is nice. Not sure how badly the sound suffers though. £7.49.  Slipstreamz earwear positions your iPod earbubs outside…

The Planter Speaker.

The Outdoor Planter Speaker. Yep, that makes complete sense to me. Stick your 125W, 6.5 inch speaker in a plant pot and shove some Hydrangeas  in there to make the audio sound nice and crisp. Yep. That’s the thing. And thank goodness it’s waterproof, eh? $249.99. Trying to decide between setting up outdoor speakers or decorative planters? Having a small yard or deck is no reason to compromise on beauty and entertainment. The 2-Way 6.5-Inch Planter Speaker is a 125-watt outdoor speaker housed…

Circuit Board Picture Frame.

Circuit Board Photo Frame. Now if this was a digital photo frame this would be hot. As it is, it’s just a bit lame geeky and not really much of a statement of your intellectuosity. But hey, it’s $12.99. And it’s almost Xmas. <ducks for cover>  Circuitboards are functional and beautiful. Ensconsing your loved ones in wildly complex electrical circuits shows your love for the subject as well as your love for all things geek. A simple picture frame constructed…

Keylogger DELL component?

OK, I’m genuinely not understanding this. Did this guy really find a Keyghost keylogger in his almost brand new DELL laptop? And if so, why? And what have US Homeland Security got to do with it? And why are not more people shouting? What have I missed here?  The reasons Dell would put this in thier laptops can only be left up to your imagination. It would be very impractical to hand-anylze the logs, and very CPU-intensive to do so…
