UnPlug – video download Firefox extension

UnPlug. I’ve got to say, one of the ugliest Firefox extensions I’ve seen, but it appears to work as advertised. Lets you download video which is embedded in a web page.  UnPlug is different from the VideoDownloader extension – The Videodownloader extension takes you to the videodownloader.com website, which then tells you where the video is kept based on the website’s address. UnPlug will search what’s on the page for where the video is using a few different methods. It…

Magic Advert Mirror

The Magic Mirror transforms any ordinary mirror into an advertising billboard when you walk in front of it. Yep, we’re talking a kind of Minority Report tech but without the personalisation. Check out the rather cool video. Apparently it’s all done with a single sheet of paper and the equivalent of a household battery.  Lighted mirror box will transform any ordinary mirror into a bright full color display advertisement. Motion sensor that can detect any object approaching the mirror and…

World’s smallest R/C airplane?

The Aerosoarer is billed as the world’s smallest fully remote controllable indoor aeroplane. So there. It weighs 3.5 grams, which is only a little less than my brain, has a 26cm wingspan and is made of Styrofoam. The flight time is a massive 40 seconds though, so don’t get too attached to them mid-air pyrotechnics, Orville. £24.99.  Using the latest in Infra Red technology the controller has just two buttons to control the throttle and rudder. The controller also acts…

Cross Electronic Pen

The Cross Executive Electronic Pen is proof, if any were needed, that old fuddy duddy companies can drag themselves into the 19th century if they have to. Even if it is to create what is basically a glorified stylus for the Tablet PC. Still, it’s a nice name to have stuffed in your pocket isn’t it? $49.95. [Thanks Robin].  The Penabled Cross Executive Pen is a cordless, battery-free, high-resolution electronic pen with built-in eraser that delivers a quality, pressure-sensitive writing experience for…

Fabulous VC Comic Strip

The VC. I was leafing through my old archives the other day and stumbled across this fabulous gem of a comic strip which ran during the last Internet Bubble, and portrayed the eternal struggle between entrepreneur and venture capitalist. Hmm…maybe it’s time for the creators to start cleaning their pens again?  I recommend anyone thinking of jumping on the Web 2.0 bandwagon to read the whole series of these strips, from 1 to 41. You’ll learn a lot!

Virtual Reality Snowboarding

The VR3D Snowboard Blitz Game. Man, there was a time when virtual reality sets were thousands of dollars and as rare as Tylenol on a rocking horse [Eh? – Ed]. But now look, $39.95 for a wireless wonder of modern technology. Sheesh, ain’t obsolescence wonderful?  Children steer by shifting their balance on the board base, while the virtual reality screen inside their headset translates their motions into daring maneuvers on a thrilling racecourse. LED Light Up Pillows

LED Light Up Pillows. There’s a reason you’d want to buy light up pillows made of light emitting optical fibers, but we’re not too sure what it is. To help insomniacs? Soothe pyromaniacs? Confuse dipsomaniacs? Nope, still confused. $449.99.  These extraordinary articles are the most unique results in lighting we’ve found so far, thanks to Luminex, a light-emitting fabric that blends optical fiber with other fibers. Connected to a light source (LEDs), then activated by a battery or direct current,…

DIY Coat Hanger Robot

The DIY Coat Hanger Robot. Why buy a creepy-crawlie, when you can make one at home out of useless household junk and some batteries? A perfect project for newbie robot wars geeks?  It makes use of techno-junk. Okay, so a coat hanger isn’t very “techno,” but if you have a decent techno-junk stash (and who among us doesn’t have access to old computers, motorized toys, analog modems, old answering machines, etc. at this point?), you likely have some of the other components…
