The Mux Online Video Transcoder lets you convert a video from one format to another online (e.g. Quicktime to AVI). Sample Swap – free audio samples for download

Sample Swap. Free ‘professional quality’ audio samples for downloading. Over 7000 samples available and there’s a nice Flash audition feature too.  Are these sounds royalty-free? Can I use them in a commercial arrangement? In two words: Not necessarily. SmartShopper – automatic grocery list maker

The SmartShopper is billed as ‘an automated grocery list assistant’, and if the spec is anything to go by, it’s a pretty cool tool. It uses Nuance voice recognition (the people behind Dragon NaturallySpeaking) so you literally press a button, say the item you need and it’s added to your shopping list. When you’re on your way out, you press print and out pops a full list created by the internal thermal printer. Not only that, but you can add…

Gizmo Call – browser based free phone calls

Gizmo Call is offering free calls to landlines or mobile phones around the world. Just type the phone number in the box and press call (the first time you use it, a browser plug-in will be installed). Calls limited to 10 minutes per day and there appears to be a small print $5.00 limit on the page, so it looks like another one of Michael Robertson’s marketing schemes. Still an interesting idea though. Tags: voip, internet+phone

Lycos sucks – stay away

So apparently this guy has just been done over by the Lycos Mail service (they deleted all his past emails when he failed to log-in or pay money to upgrade his account)and it’s now all over teh internets. Well I also have had a run in with Lycos Mail in the past, from which I learned one thing – stay well away, well away from the Lycos service. The company truly is awful in terms of customer support. One of the worst. This has been a…
