Dr Who Dalek Talking Alarm Clock – wake up to the sound of an angry alien

I don’t know, I’m thinking the only thing worse than being woken up by the ‘exterminate’ of this Dr Who Dalek Talking Alarm Clock thing, would be if it rolled up to your bed and shoved the sink plunger into your eyeball repeatedly until you made a move for the bathroom. Man, masochism comes in strange shapes nowadays, that’s for certain. $37.15.  At 25 centimetres tall, this golden replica of those dastardly Daleks features an alarm clock with LCD display set into…

LightForm is the world’s first flexible LED lighting film. This amazing stuff comes in 10 inch x 1 mm thin strips with sticky backed 2 sided tape, which you can cut and shape to your requirements. Wireless Doorbell Monitor & Camera – check on your callers when you’re out

This Wireless Doorbell & Camera combines a plain vanilla wireless door bell…natch…with a teeny video recorder. When a visitor presses the button to ring your doorbell, the camera starts working and records a video of them to a hidden removable SD memory card. The camera offers 2 megapixel resolution and 30 fps video rate and will record down to 1 Lux illumination (i.e. gloomy). When you return home, just pop the card into a reader on your computer and check…

BakadoPlayer – free media player gives ultimate control over subtitles

BakadoPlayer is a free media player which focuses on subtitle handling, which is something that most players tend to overlook. The main thing is the customisability, which means you can make them more legible in terms of position, font and colours. It may not sound like much to you, but imagine you have Italian friends over for the weekend and you’re watching that rip of The Sound of Music…! See? It’s strictly Windows media compatible, but looks like something that could…

Kideos – Kidsized YouTube

One of the best things about the ‘Net is that it stops you plonking your kids down in front of the television for hours at a time, instead you can sit them in front of YouTube and follow [insert children’s television show character here]-related video links for hours at a time. Unfortunately that does lead you, on occasion, to some not-kidsafe content. Kideos provides a subset of YouTube selected by a panel of parents, where each video has been deemed…

Google Apps Marketplace – Better watch your back Microsoft

Google have just announced their own place for business applications – they are calling it the Google Apps Marketplace . There is a spot on one of their websites where they are showing off fifty ( yeah 50) of their partners in this venture. You can check out the video right here. This is clearly the next logical stage in Google’s plans for world domination,  but there’s nothing wrong with that, right? Who wants to be using Microsoft Word in…

White Goat – Office recycling with a twist

This ingenious White Goat machine, made by Japanese company Oriental, turns used office paper into toilet paper. Simply feed shredded paper (or it can shred it for you) into the White Goat (after you’ve removed all the staples!) and it will mix the paper with water and presto – a perfect roll of toilet paper emerges on the other side. The process takes around 30 minutes and 40 sheets of paper to make one roll. Its designers say it will…

FirstView PC607V Computer – an ‘andy Android ‘andheld for just 95 dollars?

This FirstView PC607V handheld computer runs on either Android or Windows CE and apparently costs around $65.00 to make. The minimum spec says that’s for 128MB of RAM, 2GB storage, 7 inch touchscreen, 3G SIM slot, WiFi, SD card slot, speakers and two USB ports. At that price, we’re probably talking $95 retail, which is scary. Expect a gazillion of these cheapo Chinese computers to hit the market this year and next.
