Get a year of Amazon Prime for free (even if you’re not a student)

Amazon Prime is a nice service that gets you 2-day shipping on virtually everything for free. I say free, but there is the initial $80 fee that you have to pay to sign up. If you do a lot of shopping online, then it pays for itself with the convenience. Of course, if you can find a way to get a membership for free, then it really pays for itself. Yes, there is a way to do this. Amazon is…

Tweet-a-Pot starts your morning coffee with just a tweet

Coffee is the drink that keeps many people going throughout the day. Unfortunately, when you arrive home, or at the office to find that no one else has started a pot, it can be frustrating. So why not make sure that there is a fresh pot waiting for you by triggering it in advance? Since you don’t always know when you’ll be arriving, this takes a bit of clever hacking. This Tweet-a-Pot is a hack that allows you to send…

Truco Roller Bag is the Transformer of luggage

If anyone out there is a frequent flyer who goes here and there and has to keep a lot of things with them at once, this is for you. The Trucco, which was made by Balanzza is an all-in-one bag that will help give you the efficiency you need for your travels. Finding a good suitcase with accompanying bags for those of us that are constantly on the go can be exceedingly hard. Even when youre buying a matching set…

Tron Segway is no Lightcycle

So many Tron fans have been trying to modify everything they own to come with bright lights and fancy stripes. Though I have no qualm with this whatsoever, I do find it terribly amusing. One of the more recent awesome yet hilarious things that has shown up is a Tron-inspired Segway. Though it doesnt seem to be too awfully difficult to make, as its just reflective tape and a strand of blue LED Christmas lights, its still pretty spiffy looking….

Microsoft Touch Mouse goes buttonless

There are not enough numbers to count the times I have been annoyed by the click and clack sounds that come from a computer mouse. While relaxing at home, getting a nice cup of tea prepared and sitting down to a good book, the sounds from the mouse and keyboard will start up and then I can concentrate on nothing else. The beginnings of the ultimate days of peace are at hand. Microsoft has made a touch mouse that is…

Audiovox brings Blu-ray to your car

Watching DVDs is one good way for passengers to pass the time in a long car ride. I’ve never really been taken with the idea though. I mean, who really wants to spend a car ride watching video that’s sub-par at best? I mean, if you’re not going to watch movies in hi-def, then you might as well pop in a VHS tape or something. Thankfully the people at Audiovox understand my plight, and have announced the AVDBR1 in-car Blu-ray…

Mindflex goes two-player

As any Star Wars geek what super powers they would want to have, and I can bet that most will respond with The Force. (Yes, Wolverine’s healing factor might be a close second for me, but that’s beside the point.) Fortunately there is one way that we can at least pretend to have this awesome power. That’s right, I’m talking about the Mindflex game from Mattel. That’s old news though, so why am I bringing it up now? Well it…

YouTube now supports drag-and-drop uploading thanks to HTML5

HTML5 is the future of the web. I could spend a good while describing in detail why this new technology will change the way you use the internet, but instead I’ll just leave you with this gem. Next time you head over to YouTube to upload that video of your cat being cute, don’t bother clicking the Upload Video button. Rather, just take the video clip and drag it into the specified area. That’s all you need to do. Oh,…

NZXT Bunker locks down your USB devices

Have you ever been to a LAN party? If so, you’ve probably worried about something getting swiped from your station when you’re in the bathroom or something. After all, with so many geeks crammed into one place, it would be easy for someone to just unplug your fancy keyboard or $100 mouse and make off with it. NZXT knows this, and they want to help. The Bunker is an inexpensive ($25) USB bay that actually locks down any device connected…

Hook your Zune to your Mac with a simple software hack

In this day and age, there’s really no excuse for hardware not to be cross-compatible. This is something that’s bothered me about Microsoft’s Zune player for a long time. It took the iPod a little over a year to get official support for Windows machines (a year-and-a-half if you count the release of iTunes for Windows). The Zune has been out since late 2006, and you still can’t connect one to a Mac. What’s up with that, Microsoft? Well, if…

Turn your iPhone into a LEGO creation

There’s something about those little LEGO bricks that stand up to the test of time. Even as an adult, I love the opportunity to play with them. I always figured I’d outgrow such childish toys, but what can I say, I’m still a kid at heart. If you still share my love for them, you can now turn your iPhone 4 into a LEGO building surface. No, this isn’t an officially licensed LEGO product, but your little bricks will attach…

Free Video Converter – freeware offers cool photo, video and audio conversion

Free Video Converter is a free media conversion program which combines a great looking user interface with some seriously powerful functionality. There’s no shortage of video converters out there, which offer to transform video into different format for different devices and uses, but this is the first we’ve seen which also offers image slide show, and audio conversion on the fly within the same interface. The photo slideshow creator on its own would be worth the money, but throw in…

Culinary Heat Lamp keeps food warm like the pros

I’m no chef, but I do try my hand at cooking once in a while. Something I’ve yet to master is the timing of it all. Either one dish will get finished well before the others, or somehow it takes twice as long to make than I intended. The worst is when I get finished, and the person eating with me is nowhere to be found. Then I somehow have to keep the meal warm until they get here. If…
