If It Were My Home – cool online app lets you compare living standards

If It Were My Home is a cool new online service which lets you compare differences between your home country and others. At the moment the results are pretty basic health and occupation type stats, but with time I can see this expanding out into all sorts of cool information about lifestyles, culture etc etc. It’s also a useful tool to use if you’re thinking about moving and want to check out a choice of destinations. Fun tool.  IfItWereMyHome.com is…

Facebook disables access to address and phone number by 3rd party applications

That was pretty fast. Yesterday we posted about some changes recently made to Facebook. Specifically, the ability for 3rd party applications to access your address and phone number. We weren’t the only ones that saw the negative effects of this, and it would seem that Facebook was listening. The company posted on their Developer Blog that they are temporarily disabling this feature. That does mean that it will be re-enabled at some point, but with some changes. What these will…

Olympus TP-7 telephone recording device

If youve ever had to do an interview over the phone, you know how awesome the idea is to just record everything the person says and write it out later. There is finally a cheap way to do this. The Olympus Tp-7 is a mini-microphone that will record whatever conversation youre having via phone into whichever device you desire. It’s rather small and lightweight, which makes it easy to slip into our bag and pull out when needed. All you…

Energizer All-In-One Jump-Start System

Weve all done it in the past. You leave your lights on, or the key partially turned in the ignition and run down your battery. Its convenient if you have a friend nearby to help, but if youre on your own, it could cost you a good chunk of change to get your car up and running again. That is, unless you have the Energizer 84020 12V All-In-One Jump-Start System. This compact life-saver has an internal 12-volt, 18Ah sealed lead-acid…

FastMac U-Socket gives you a pair of USB ports for charging gadgets

In the last couple of years I have managed to acquire a few gadgets that can recharge via USB. This is generally very convenient, though at times I wish I had more plugs that went into a wall socket and gave me a USB port for charging. After all, I have many more USB cables than adapters. Well here is a wall outlet that actually has built-in USB ports for charging. The people at FastMac are geniuses for this one….

The Millennium Table brings the classics to your living room, for a price

What we have here is a tabletop arcade machine that comes to us from across the pond in Europe. It was designed as a coffee table with an arcade system built-in, obviously. It holds 60 classic games including Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Asteroids, and other old favorites. Featuring a 19 LCD, a joystick, and fire buttons, you have pretty much everything you need. These are replicated on the other side for two-player action as well. Though is seems that its table…

Google Music Service coming soon?

Google seems to keep improving its service here there and everywhere. The huge rivalry between Google and Apple is still going strong as ever. A new picture from an Android 2.3 device is now showing a sync Music option, seeming to hint that a music synchronization service is on its way. We dont really know if this is for certain or not, but its probably something well see in the next year or two. It will definitely be fun to…

USB Rechargeable Battery Flash Drive

We all love multi-functionality, especially when something is re-usable. If you thought the rechargeable USB battery was awesome, youll probably flip over this concept. The AA battery is useful, but unless you have rechargeable ones, it can be a bit of a pain. Its also extremely annoying to have your rechargeable batteries stuck somewhere behind a couch because its your only free outlet in the house. This AA Battery Flash Drive would also be a reusable battery. Were all on…

Thermo Mirror takes your temperature while you admire yourself

It’s the time of year when it seems like everyone is getting sick. I spent nearly two weeks battling the flu myself not too long ago. One of the annoyances while trying to fight off illness is taking your temperature. You have to deal with a thermometer, which usually means sticking something under your tongue, waiting, then washing it off. After all, you don’t want those old germs going right back in your mouth the next time you check your…
