SeatyLock – the first really cool and workable new security device for bicycles we’ve seen

We hate promoting Kickstarter projects as you know, but this one deserves a bit of attention, because it looks like it could actually solve a big problem for bicycle riders across the world. The SeatyLock is what it says, a bike saddle which converts into a bike lock when you’re parked up. Now there have been a ton of crowdfunding attempts to improve the bike lock, and most of them have been patently rubbish. Not so this one.

Polarr – awesome free photo editing app will make your boring shots look amazing all the time, seriously [Editors Choice]

Every so often we get hit in the face with a corker of a product, and we know within seconds this is something we’re going to use a lot from now on. It’s hard to explain what makes those products so compelling, but if we had to dissect it, we would put it down to a) a clearly great implementation of a core function and b) the ability to get it to do what you want instantly, without having to…

#X – it can wait, the pledge against texting and driving

We love it when clever people come up with clever uses of basic technology, and this is one of those cases. The #X campaign has a very simple, but powerful message – don’t text while you drive. There are more teenage road deaths caused by texting while driving than anything else, so this is a hugely valuable initiative. And it’s simple to do.

Haynes Build Your Own V8 Engine – the perfect gift for bonding with dad

Picture this: A father and son working on the engine for a cherry red hot rod in the garage, dad bent over the open hood, beckoning for his son to hand him the next tool. So emotive. Piper – the best little home security and automation device you’ll find at the price [Review]

We’ve got a small confession to make, we don’t really like home security and automation devices. The ones we’ve looked at in the past have promised much, and in the end delivered more disappointment than anything else. The big problem with most of them is they’re just too darned hard to install, and when you do finally manage to get it all working, there’s typically something which doesn’t do what it’s supposed to, which is very annoying. But now there’s…

Connector Pen – stylus, ballpoint and charging cable all in one

Back in the day a pen was a pen, know what we mean? You could trust it to just about reliably open on command, and then maybe, if there was an R in the month, it would write something out for you, under your expert guidance of course. Nowadays that’s all ancient rubbish, if your pen doesn’t do at least three things other that write before breakfast, it’s considered to be an antique.

PlexiDigest – free app delivers pocket sized summaries of breaking news for people who don’t like reading much [Freeware]

There’s too much to do, and definitely not enough time to do it in, and we put the blame squarely on the recent government decision to speed up time. It was a lousy idea, and we should have fought harder to stop it. But now it’s here, we better make the most of it, which is where this handy, but worrying free app comes in.

Origami Power Folding Stroller – if Tesla made baby gear…

Anyone who has ever had to deal with a stroller knows they are the most cumbersome and boring of all baby necessities. Fold “flat” actually means flatish and will still take up ALL the room in your trunk, and the nearest thing to technology most of them contain is called a rain hood. The Origami Stroller doesn’t fold flat as paper, but it does manage to cram in a lot of tech and innovation into a very small package.
