Pixlr Express – superb free smartphone photo editing, and no lousy ads [Freeware]

Autodesk is a company that usually only comes up when you’re talking about some heavy hitting design software, since they’re the makers of Maya and Autocad among other design industry standard products. But they’re not all business, there’s a lighter side to the company. They also make some pretty solid mobile apps. Pixlr Express, for example, is a superb little photo editing app  whcih can turn your mobile photos into little masterpieces.

You know you take a lot of photos. You’re probably Snapchatting right now. That’s why there are a lot of photo editing apps out there, from the most basic programs to mini-Photoshop. Pixlr contains the majority of functions needed to correct and enhance cell phone photos. So even though this isn’t like Lightroom, it does allow you to crop and resize, and do things like color correction which includes contrast, light correction etc.

You can even get fancy with different overlays and filters to create mood and drama, throw together a photo collage like all the cool kids or just add a border and some text effects. Pixlr is a free app with no ads. It’s available in both the Play Store and App Store. For those of you who prefer to use your computer and/or browser for photo editing, check out the rest of the free Pixlr product range at
