Fireflies Are Decreasing – the magical insect is showing signs of trouble

Nothing makes an evening more magical than a big group of fireflies turning the area into a star filled sky, right on earth. If you happen to live in am area where you don’t have these magical insects, well, I’m very sorry because they are great. Of course, we all might lose out on them as their numbers are decreasing.

They’re not endangered but many man-made factors are contributing to their dropping numbers. The three big things are light pollution, pesticides, and loss of habitat. In short, these insects are being effected by the same thing that many wildlife species are being subjected to.

But all is not lost. As I said before, they’re not endangered yet so perhaps, becoming aware of their plight might help shift some changes in their favor. After all, it would be a shame to lose such amazing little lights.
