Finish My Projects is a great way to recycle your cool ideas

Everyone gets a great idea once in a while, in the shower, while out with friends, maybe during a movie. But often the realization of that idea proves to be just too tricky or expensive or time consuming, and so the project languishes in the corner of a shed or your mind. As someone once said, ‘ideas are easy, it’s the execution that counts’.

Now there’s a new option which could help with this problem. Finish My Projects is an online marketplace where people can post their unfinished projects and others can bid on the chance to complete them. The idea is for people with time and money to take over a project where it needs completing, while paying for any materials that have already been used by the originator or for the idea itself.

The seller sets the price, all the ownership rights are transferred (so there’s no, oh can I have it back now?, after it’s done) and the project can include just about anything, e.g. music, art, video, craftwork or even a piece of writing. This really opens out the market to a huge degree.

The world is made up of two (just two!) types of people –  starters and finishers, and this site offers a interestingly novel way to link the two together. With the right kind of traction, it’s easy to see this becoming a sort of Kickstarter for prototypes or abandoned ideas, which could be very cool.

The site is clean and easy to navigate, and there are some nice tools available like Facebook comments, a location map and a Contact the Seller messaging button. All in all, it’s a great idea which needs an audience and some users. I hope they get both.
