Net sweeper.

The super cool looking Samsung Crubo (aka VC-RP30W) robot vacuum cleaner comes with a couple of very interesting extras. One, you can control it remotely from a Web browser and secondly it has an integrated web camera so you can use it as a sort of steerable security monitoring device when you’re out of the house. CF USB card.

Apparently these things have been around for a while, but I only just stumbled across one the other day at a local computer fair. The Netac USB UCF card, a Compact Flash card with in-built USB socket. Needs larger capacities to make it really shine. More here. Around �60.00 at the fair.

The Netac USB-CF multifunction CompactFlash card is cool because it contains an integral mini USB socket. This means that you can access it directly with your PC without having to plug it into an adapter or special slot. Capacities range from 32MB to 256MB but no word on pricing as yet. [via gizmodo]

Crusade against petty piracy

This CNET report reveals how a small start up company in the US is trying to develop technology to prevent people taping movies in cinemas using their camcorders. Erm…and just how many people do that? And how pitifully naff is the result? Hint: Very! What a complete waste of time and money. Oh and the company was set up by one of the people that launched the Divx DVD player technology that failed so spectacularly. Says it all really.
