Stack-o-matic.

The Crosley Stack-o-Matic. Isn’t it kind of weird to pay $179.00 for a device you couldn’t *give* away 10 years ago? And let’s not talk about how autochangers really cherish your precious vinyl platters, eh?   Considered a luxury by their parents, but a staple for 50s era teens, the record changer quickly became a part of every American home. This classic beauty features the traditional vinyl cabinet with authentic accent work—including the mesh chrome grillwork. Turntable holds up to eight 7”, 10”…

Design glory.

Just remember then that it’s – in, out, in, out…and so on. Until death. [Via Metafilter]

Hey, Mr DJ…

If I was a DJ I’d want a Numark CDX Premium Direct Drive CD Turntable. Oh yes I would. Around $800.00. ‘Do anything with CDs that you can do with records, all while feeling genuine turntable. Why does CDX feel so real? Because it is built with the same ultra-high torque direct drive motor as our flagship TTX, complete with 12-inch vinyl and slipmat. Vinyl feel just doesnt get more real than this.’

Volatile vinyl.

An interesting US article suggesting that the traditional multiple track music album may be on its way to oblivion. Sounds plausible. But on the other hand, I had a fascinating conversation the other evening with the very nice David Price, editor of Hi-Fi World magazine, and he was telling me that vinyl albums are actually making a comeback, and not just with club DJs. Apparently trendy yuppie types are buying gorgeous record decks like the Michel Orbe above as status…

Teac retro…

The Teac SL-A100 is a fab looking retro record player with stereo tuner et al. Well it looks pretty in the picture anyway. The turntable can even play 78s, although apparently you don’t want to try that unless you know what you’re doing.
