California Hits 33% Renewable – the state makes it’s goal of a third before 2020

Locations around the world are making moves toward more sustainable energy solutions. Slowly but surely, everyone is jumping on this bandwagon which makes sense since the alternative is. . . not good. Although there’s still a whole lot of work to be done, it’s good to celebrate the successes! California has met its goal of being 33% renewable and it did it early.

Where do our recyclables go – after China becomes more strict, we need to question this more

One of our biggest problems is trash and now with China refusing most of our recyclables, this problem is coming home to roost with disastrous consequences. Instead of being recycled, most things that can be are actually ending up in landfills and at incinerators which means, we need to be way more aware of what we are throwing out and how to reduce that.

Saving Wetlands – marsh mud can help fight climate change

Wetlands have been under threat since forever. Seriously, I remember cleaning them up in elementary school and I am. . . far away from that time in my life. How far? Not important, but it’s been awhile. When we think of people who collect cans, well we probably don’t think much of them. Most people are aware that the cans can be exchanged for money but many people don’t bother. Still, the people who collect up these cans are doing a good bit to help the amount of recyclables that actually get turned in proving that a little bit of incentive goes a long way.
