USB 2.0 Kill Drive – think twice about plugging in that flash drive you just found

Most people will happily check a USB they found just lying around. Maybe there’s something cool on it, maybe it’s just blank and yay, free USB drive! You might want to rethink that practice in the future, however, USB 2.0 Kill Drives are real and they’re entering the market.

These USB kill drives will fry your computer. The only thing on them is bad news and heartbreak. No pictures, no forgotten schoolwork, just tears and tragedy. It was created to test USB ports against power surge attacks. That sounds like it would be a good thing to test but we all know that people are just going to use it to be jerks.

The device lets out a series of rapid fire discharges at 240V which will destroy the circuit of whatever you plug it into. Although it does have a real and worthwhile purpose, this honestly just seems like something people will abuse. The company that is making this also sells USB Kill Tester Shield that protects the machine. They say you make more money when you sell the disease and the cure. Anyway, the USB 2.0 Kill Drive is 49,95 €. What do you guys think? Are we going to start seeing a surge of machines taken out by this?
