Everyone’s had that moment when they’ve listened to a brand new song and thought, “Hey, I’ve heard that beat before!’ Or maybe it was the chorus. Not the whole song, just a sample of something. WhoSampled is the free app that lets you discover and track who is sampling who.
WhoSampled is like the music genome map but instead of telling you what artists are most like the artist you’re listening to, it instead gives you the makeup of your favorite songs, creating a sort of music DNA for you to follow. The app doesn’t just say, oh yeah this was a hit from 1930, you’re welcome. Instead it actually gives detailed information about the song, original artist, and what part of the song was actually sampled.
For some people, this is a fun app to pull up when a name is just on the tip of your tongue and can’t quite place it, but with all the other features packed into it, this could be a cool tool for serious music lovers who want to increase their knowledge. WhoSampled is avaible through both the App Store and Google Play.
