The days of the physical and bulky dictionaries are definitely over, as one only needs to open a browser and look up a definition of a word online. As if this wasn’t easy enough, a Chrome extension called Instant Dictionary by Goodwordguide gives you an even quicker way to know what a word or phrase means.
Upon installing the free extension, you can highlight and double-click any English word and its definition should appear on a pop-up box below. You can even click on the speaker icon to listen to its pronunciation.
Some synonyms for the word also appears on the bottom of the pop-up window. To see the full details of the definition, you can click on “More”, which brings you to the website, Goodwordguide.
If you want to change how the definition appears, right-click on the extension’s icon (the button with the letter D), and select “Options”.
From here, you can either define words by double clicking them, or by selecting them. Furthermore, you can add “triggers” which are either the Ctrl, Alt or Shift keys before a definition appears.
