InterNot Hall of Shame.

Proof indeed that dumb-ox lawyers, when faced with something they don’t understand, will invariably make things worse. I feel another wiki coming on! The Top 10 InterNot Hall of Shame. 1. Sellotape. ‘Hyperlinking to this site, is not permitted without the express prior permission of Sellotape.’ Clearly not the brightest of lawyers, they have…ahem…stuck to their guns even after all the adverse publicity. Well done NotLink Losers! 2. BP Solar. ‘You may not frame this site nor link to a…

Lastminute change of heart?

The comment in this Beeb report is truly beyond hilarious. ‘Lastminute chairman Allan Leighton said the company, in common with other travel operators, had been affected by a growing tendency for consumers to book their holidays later than usual. “Against these tough market conditions, lastminute.com has continued to perform well,” he said.’

Nice ambience, did you knit it yourself?

Those clever peeps at Ambient Devices have a new product – the Weather Forecast Beacon. Not only will it wirelessly connect to their free network and tell you the state of the weather outside by glowing a particular colour (red for hot and blue for brrrr), but it also appears to play the piano when tornados approach. I think! $179.00. Funny, but there’s no mention in the blurb of how much time it saves looking out of the window, and…

Ahh, fresh hair at last!

Look, I like fresh air as much as the next dork. But not enough to wander around with this doozy on my chest. How lame is that? ‘Hey, Mr Paranoid, me. Your stinkin’ air ain’t good enough for my lungs, sucka!’ Of course your ozone may vary. The Ionic (Ironic?) Breeze Personal Air Purifier. 39.95. ‘Personal air purifier and humidifier silently directs cleaner, fresher air toward your mouth and nose. Creates a “personal comfort zone” in any environment. Humidify ultra-dry…

The Bigha. Stress free biking at a stress inducing $2500.00? ‘Trouble is, traditional bikes contort your body into weird, uncomfortable positions that make riding painful…Bigha’s bike is designed for the human body – and for the modern lifestyle.’ What about the modern wallet, eh?

Key Catcher.

These Key Catcher things are really small and really sneaky, aren’t they? From $89.99. ‘This is a device that can be connected to a keyboard to record all keystrokes. It has a changeable password, keyword search, enable/disable option, and stores URLs. Records more than 130,000 keystrokes and does not require any software. Monitor unauthorized access to your computer or your network. Use it to troubleshoot or make fixes by tracing back through a users command sequence.’

Tele friends.

How to Make Friends by Telephone. Priceless, priceless, priceless. ‘Speak directly into the phone, using a normal, natural tone of voice. Shouting distorts your voice and is not pleasant. It’s also irritating to try to understand someone who whispers or mumbles.’

Changing Mail.

I confess that I’m a little taken with this new free Changing Mail service. It’s basically a information push/pull service which lets you send unlimited messages to a recipient using a constantly updating HTML email message. The message does this by automatically connecting to the host server every so often to download new PNG images containing your text. Send the message once, and it thereafter acts as the envelope – cough – so to speak for your future info deliveries….

None too INTELigent?

Oops, chip giant Intel has decided to rattle its legal sword at a bunch of Brit companies with the word Intel in their domain name. Only problem is one of the companies they picked on is 7Intel, a small private detective agency in Northern England ‘ run by an ex-military private investigator Gary Stapleton.’ Oh dear, perhaps Mssrs Grove, Barrett et al might re-consider trying to hassle this guy? Ouch! ‘Gary is more than capable of taking care of himself…

Rude bear.

It’s childish I know, but this flatulent bear conjures up all sorts of pranks involving cups of tea, sofas, visiting parents-in-law and subsequently sulky wives. $19.98. ‘He’s cute, he’s cuddly, and he’s flatulent. There’s nothing he likes more than to be in the arms of some poor, unsuspecting victim so he can let out a big, juicy one when you press the remote control. And he’s so embarrassed; his little cheeks glow blushing red whenever he passes gas.’

Freedom.

The Freedom Pass Mouse is a fingerprint security mouse which lets you access your stuff automatically once your fingerprint has been verified. I wouldn’t rely on this for really important material, especially when you remember that fingerprint security can be broken, but OK for quick access to yer trivia. Around $100.00. ‘Multiple users can log-on to the computer and view encrypted files and Internet accounts with a touch. No more passwords means no more forgetting, stealing, and updating. Under a…
