Text2Logo – free logos, if you’re not too fussy

Spiffy Text (aka text2logo) is a free online logo creator. The idea is sound, although I must say the presentation of the site leaves a bit to be desired. Nice idea, shame about the package. Still, that’s probably churlish, since they’re offering the service for free (with a watermark mind you). So if you’re in the market for a cheap and cheerful plain style logotype, then this place is probably worth a visit.  www.text2logo.com is our original site, but this new…

Fuelly – track, share and compare your car’s fuel consumption

Fuelly is a groovy new online service to help you track your car’s fuel consumption. Set up an account, add your car/s, and every time you fill up, enter in your trip or odometer reading and fuel quantity. The service then calculates a running mileage figure for your vehicle that you can admire, discuss and try to improve over time. I love it, because it’s a classic case of using the power of the web community to help improve some…

Memjet high speed printers almost here – spit printers menace your inkjet

We first mentioned the Memjet high speed printing technology early last year and now it looks as though the products are almost ready for prime time. A prototype was on the stands at CES and spokespeople were saying that products from various manufacturers would be on sale later this year. Printing at 1 second per page on the desktop is quite an amazing concept, so it will be interesting to see whether the tech lives up to the expectations.  Kim Beswick,…

Credit Crunch Report – Welcome to the New Age

It’s pretty clear now that we’re heading for the mother and father of all recessions. There’s acres of newsprint and online discussion about the whys, wherefores and such, so I won’t repeat it, but I thought it might be interesting to take a look at what I believe this could mean for our gadget obsessed, consumerised world in the near and not so near future. Of course it’s not the end of the world and we will survive, however it’s…

Yorozu Universal Speaker Kit – the milk carton speaker for the rest of us

The Yorozu Universal Speaker Kit promises to turn anything into a speaker via the use of vibrations. We’ve come across this tech before of course, but what I particularly like about this puppy is the fact they give you a milk carton in the box to start off with. It’s like they’re saying, ‘you guys are too dumb to work this out for yourself, so here’s a box to help you understand’. Sweet of them, eh? $89.00.  The Yorozu Audio…

What to Rent – a very cool personalised movie recommendation service

What to Rent is a very cool free movie recommendation service which asks a lot of left field type questions to build a profile of your tastes and then uses the profile to deliver movie suggestions on demand. Surprisingly the questions have nothing to do with movies per se, but are instead based on stuff like relationships and general attitudes.  You also tell it your mood and whether you want to watch something inside or outside your comfort zone, which adds a…

Night Owl iGen Night Vision Camera – take snaps in the dark

The Night Owl iGen Night Vision Camera not only amplifies light 650x but can also grab black and white snaps onto an SD Memory Card. Now quite why you’d want to do this again after the first couple of expeditions out on a cold frosty eve is a mystery to us, but obviously there’s some sort of market out there. $599.00.  The Night Owl iGen 20/20 Night Vision Monocular NOIGM3X-IC is a night vision viewer with still camera built in.
