The always amusing xkcd webcomic has boiled down a few quintessential movies into easily digested movie narrative flow charts. Why not print them out and present them at tomorrow’s sales meeting? These charts show movie character interactions. The horizontal axis is time. The vertical grouping of the lines indicates which characters are together at a given time. Breakfast on the Bridge – turfing the coathanger

Just a quick plug for my home town, Sydney. There’s an October-length festival going on here at the moment called Crave, celebrating all things great about living in Sydney including food. As part of the festivities, the Sydney Harbour Bridge was closed for 12 hours on Sunday morning and 10,000m of turf was laid across it temporarily for the inaugural Breakfast on the Bridge event. Not bad considering it’s over a kilometer in length. Around 6,000 randomly selected people enjoyed…

Digital Harinezumi – Super 8 meets VGA

The Digital Harinezumi is a faux Super 8 digital video camera shaped like a 110 film canister. At its heart is a 2 Megapixel CMOS sensor that will capture both 1600×1200 stills and VGA quality movies and record them onto a microSD card. Because it’s emulating Super 8 the camera has built-in filters which produce the same saturated, vignetted effect of Super 8 and it even has the same juddering motion produced by the film gate. For real authenticity the…
