The Gamma Watch – radiation checker on your wrist

The Gamma Watch is a ‘precision timepiece with a built in solid state radiation detector’.  Is that your arm glowing baby, or are you just pleased to see me? Scary tech. Really scary. $250.00 when new stocks arrive. [via MoFi]  More and more ordinary citizens are interested in personal radiation protection. Reasons include lost sources, nuclear accidents, nuclear or radiological terrorism and the possibility of nuclear weapons being used in a war. We live in a world where radiation is…

USB Mega Hub

Multifunctional USB Hub. Think you know what a multi-function USB hub is? Well think again, bub, ‘cause it’s nothing – nothing I say – without a pen holder, mouse, keyboard, microphone and headset/speaker sockets. Man, we’re so disappointed they didn’t include a pencil sharpener in there. There’s enough room…

Wireless MP3 Shower Mirror

The Wireless MP3 Fog-Free Shower Mirror. Mmm…rather confused over this one. Does it accept FM transmitted signals from your iPod or beam a wireless signal from any iPod? The only way this makes sense to me is if it accepts audio from your iPod sitting on a nearby table, out of reach of steam or water vapour. But what do I know….? $99.95.  Bathe and shave to your favorite tunes with this wireless MP3 shower mirror. * Powerful FM transmitter projects a…

The 007 UV LED Torch Gun

The 007 Lighter LED Torch & UV Banknote Checker Gun. Hmm…trying desperately to work out the convoluted reasoning behind embedding a UV banknote checker, an LED flashlight and a jet-torch flame lighter in a small pistol shaped format. Did they figure that this would improve your chances at check-in? Or that you’d need to drag out a pistol to check your change in Starbucks? $6.99.  The green colored jet-torch flame burns at over 2300 degrees, is wind-resistant, and is perfect…

Kaleidescape 1U – media for the masses?

The good folk at Kaleidescape have gone all mass market and released a cheapo version of their media player distribution system, the Kaleidescape 1U. Er…did we say mass market? We meant £6395.00 entry level starting price, as opposed to the £16,995 mortgage the wife of the original system. Some people live on a different planet, don’t they?  The System provides a compelling and easy-to-use interface, and can handle collections of DVD movies and audio CDs of any size. It automatically…

Pen Fishing Rod

The Pen Fishing Rod. A fishing rod tucked away in a tiny pen format? Yowsers. It’s telescopic, aluminium and extends to a whopping four feet long (1.2 m). But who needs to carry around a tiny fishing rod just in case they suddenly get the urge to fish? Fishaholics? We’re confused (yet again). £24.95.  A quite amazing feat of micro engineering, this sleek pen is actually a telescopic aluminium rod that extends out from the case to a full 4’/1.2m #…

Light Up Ice Cubes

Light Up Ice Cubes seem like a weird idea. Why would we want our milkshakes all lit up like a Christmas tree when it’s only November? And they blink too? You’re kidding, right? $19.99 for a 4 pack.  Just push a button to start them up and then place ’em anywhere you want to brighten or romanticize the festivities – the punch bowl or the pool, the bathtub or in a cocktail at your New Year’s Eve party. Reusable non-toxic glow…

Cosmo TV Bath

The Cosmo Hydromassage Television Bathtub. Q: What’s sleek, white and bubbles uncontrollably when a shampoo advert is on? A: Danni Minogue. And then there’s the Cosmo hydromassage (that’s bubbles to you and me) bath with integrated LCD television. Tell you what, dear reader, you’d better have more than one bathroom if you install this puppy, ‘cause there ain’t no way anyone’s getting in and out of this in less than half a day. £2995.00.  After much interest in our 2 person…

Samsung SPH-P9000 – handheld PC, great spec

The Samsung SPH-P9000 handheld computer is a very cool looking piece of tech, with a spec to match. It comes with 1GHz CPU, Windows XP, 30GB hard disk, 256MB of RAM, 5 inch display, WiMAX, CDMA EV-DO, and a 1.3 megapixel camera. Phew. And it weighs just 580g. The real doozy though is that fold out keyboard, which looks like it actually could do the business. No word on price, but this is one design experiment that looks very interesting indeed.  The SPH-P9000 comes…

Swoop – the ultimate poop scooper

Swoop. Is this really the world’s best poop scooper? Apparently it grabs and bags your dog’s doings in one simple action. Oops, nearly said motion there. That wouldn’t do at all would it? Ahem, OK, so it’s £16.99 including 6 bags. ‘Nuff said?  The distinctive claw design mimics the human hand with a spread of over 6 inches. So enabling it to pick up all but the abnormally large! Whilst the reverse spring cleverly allows for a simple method of…
