RCA Airnergy Charger – Recharge your devices using WiFi signals

The RCA Airnergy WiFi Hotspot Power Harvester creates energy out of the air, at least if it’s in a WiFi zone. This amazing charger – featured at the recent CES 2010 in Las Vegas – “grabs” energy from a WiFi hot zone and converts it into electricity, while the internal battery charges itself. It can charge a Blackberry from 30% to 100% in around 90 minutes! And unlike solar chargers, it can charge itself even at night when in proximity…

Battalion Touch Notebook – world’s first multitouch gaming laptop

The Battalion Touch Notebook is apparently the world’s first multi-touch gaming laptop computer. The rest of the spec seems fairly standard for a 15.6 inch laptop, so we’re wondering exactly what market really wants to swap the lean back ease of use you get with a mouse and keyboard for the hunched over finger stretching hassle that comes with multi-touch screen technology? Sure it’s cool for mobile phones, but a notebook computer? Really? Anyhoo, those of you with an urge…

Germ Free Remotes – you stay healthy out there, y’hear?

Just when we thought we’d seen it all, up pops Germ Free Remotes, the classiest business idea in a century. Take one ordinary remote control unit – A. Take one custom fit plastic bag – B. Insert A into B. Seal bag – profit! Genius, simply genius. Why didn’t we think of this?  The average number of bacteria on a typical remote control is 320, and remotes have higher levels of bacteria than any other object in hotel and hospital rooms…Germ…

Holophone PortaMic 5.1 – Surround sound 5.1 microphone

Most of the familiar multi-channel sound that we hear; stereo, 5.1, 6.1 etc, is produced in post-production. Multiple (usually mono) sound sources are mixed and tweaked to produce the surround-sound-extravaganza that we know and love. Well Holophone do things a little differently, they make a range of 5.1 surround sound microphones, including the PortaMic 5.1, that can record 5.1 sound using a single mic. The PortaMic 5.1 sits on the microphone accessory shoe of high-end camcorders and lets you record…

6Rounds – online meetings get some fun style glitter

They’re pitching 6Rounds as a ‘social webcam experience’, which basically means you get to watch each other with live video while indulging in games, social events or other online activities. Sharing the moment, see? I guess it’s a reasonable supposition, but you can’t help feeling that all this trendy social engagement would be so much more meaningful if you could just leave the house occasionally and become less remote and more in-yer-face. Anyway, interesting idea.  6rounds is a live meeting…

YouTube does Hulu – and so the seventh dimension pops into existence…

Wow, colour me late to the party, but YouTube now does television and movies? No way! Way? Wow! Not just cheesy Net knock-offs either, but also fave mainstream TV stuff like The IT Crowd, Fawlty Towers and Wallace & Gromit. Sure the video quality ain’t comparable to Voddler or regular broadcast, but hey, it’s free and stuff. And there are movies too. Wow again. Tags: youtube, movies, hulu
