Decorative Car Wind Power Lamp – huh?

Um…trying to work out the reasoning behind this bizarre car accessory. The Decorative Car Wind Power Lamp clearly fulfills some purpose in one universe or another, although probably not ours. So we’re figuring the car moves, the wind blows, the prop turns, the light lights and bystanders laugh. Or something. £2.83. Specifically designed for car decorative lamp. # Stylish streamline body. # Wind power, no battery, wiring required. # The strong wind, the bright of the lamp. # Easy placing at…

Matryomin – the strangest musical instrument in the world?

The Matryomin is a theremin electronic musical instrument built into one of those Russian dolls called Matrioshka. It’s Japanese built – where else indeed? – has a five octave range and is just about the weirdest thing ever to see and hear. Watch this amazing video of a full Matryomin orchestra and dare to disagree. Priced from around $400.00.  Matryomin is the unique, original erectronic musical instrument invented by Masami Takeuchi in 1999. It is a type of theremin – oldest electro-musical…

The Phone Car – weirdness

Dude builds a Phone Car to advertise his telephone company. It has a ringer instead of a horn. I guess it’s not road legal right?  THE PHONE CAR: Created by business owner Howard Davis as a way to promote his telephone company, Datel Communications. It’s been featured in many magazines, including Motor Trend and Weekly World News. Exhibits include the Petersen Automotive Museum in Beverly Hills, as part of the exhibit of art cars. DecisionPaper – don’t bother working out your life, let a dead tree do it for you

DecisionPaper is a somewhat different kind of Magic 8 Ball for y’all. To reach a decision you simply pull a bit of paper out of the pad and tear it down the middle. How it splits gives you the answer. Confused? All will soon be clear. Available for love, wishes and decisions, and hey you can also write on the paper if you get the urge. $5.00.  The quantum unpredictability of tearing paper lets you make wishes and decisions by completely natural…

Cyber Clean – beats as it sweeps as it cleans…

Cyber Clean is a totally weird – but in a funny way logical – product for cleaning keyboards. I have a feeling that it would be a perfect way to get inside the nooks and crannies of my keyboard for instance. Hey, and it’s Swiss so it’s got to be good, right? £7.95 for a 500g pot.  Did you know that the average computer keyboard is proven to accumulate more germs than a public toilet? Now there’s a Swiss solution that can help…

Reborn Babies – eerily realistic baby dolls threaten to take over the world, or at least eBay

Reborn Babies are distinctly…ah…surreal. Take one normal kind of baby doll and spend literally days painting the thing carefully to match the skin tones of a real baby, use specially weighted fillings to make it feel real, and then stitch in realistic hair. To top it off, find some cutesy little outfits which are suitably awwww….and bingo. They’re selling on eBay for anything up to £300/$600 and beyond, with or without a fake heartbeat. Wow! So how real are they? Er…very.  The…

Tardis Garden Sheds – outwitting snails one space warp continium at a time

There are, apparently, a selection of human beings around the globe who have erected Dr Who Tardis garden sheds behind their homes. We, of course, are not surprised, although we would have to give the ultimate prize to Eric Edwards in Wales who has managed to cram what looks like the complete contents of a Radio Shack store into an old toilet, thereby fulfilling the Tardis dream of a pan-dimensional space even if it’s not the right colour and shape of…

Intempo Rebel – the world’s first ‘lawsuit just waiting to happen’ gadget

The Intempo Rebel is a music recorder with two major features. First, it will record the most-played tracks from any FM radio station, and save the tracks as MP3 files onto an SD card minus the adverts and DJ prattle. Secondly, it is probably the first ever consumer electronics product which aims to use a music industry lawsuit as part of the marketing strategy. Why else call it ‘Rebel’, eh? Our advice, grab one of these fast, before those big…

Bangkok market train – train meet market, market meet train

For some surreal and bizarre reason the Maeklong Market in Bangkok, Thailand is  built smack on top of a working train line. Eight times a day the market parts like the Red Sea to let trains through, and then returns to normal business. Apparently only two lives have been lost in twenty years. More here Maeklong Market video 1 – from the front as train approaches. Maeklong Market video 2 – footage from the back of the train Tags: maeklong+market, bangkok+thailand
