Make Windows Genuine by a simple trick – is this…uh…korrect officer?

This Make Windows Genuine hack may not be legal or even still working, but it’s still a good example of just how frustrated people are with the Microsoft authentication hoops. Try it at your peril, peeps. And remember, it’s a jungle out there.  This is a discussion on Make Windows Genuine by a simple trick within the Pc Applications forums, part of the Applications/Softwares category; BEFORE Right click your desktop and select new text document. The Filminator – a machine to make your own photographic film

The Filminator is a DIY project from a photography buff which will produce rolls of photographic film from sheets of plastic and some chemicals. Just to be clear, this involves layering chemicals on plastic, getting them to bond, and a whole bunch of stuff that nobody except a rampant loony would even think about. Incredible project and judging by the finished project sample below, it’s a working machine. Wow! [Via Metafilter]  The film base is off-the shelf, but the emulsion…

Is eBay in trouble? – a tale of rampant scammers and woeful tech support on venerable auction site

Very interesting article on The Consumerist about the increasing difficulty of selling a laptop computer on eBay without it being ‘won’ by Nigerian scammers. It looks as though eBay is suffering from a growing problem in terms of fraud and criminal activity. The worst aspect of the whole sorry tale is the pathetic user support this chap received from what is supposed to be one of the wealthiest web sites in the world. If that’s all they can offer, then things will continue going…

Twistori – the first step in an ongoing social experiment…

Twistori. We’re posting this to prove that we’re not averse to weird and wonderful, oh no. We love it. Even when we don’t really understand. If it’s pretty, nicely done and keeps our attention for more than 19.347 seconds, then it’s in. That said, we’ll pass this one over to you dear reader, and let you judge.  This is the first step in an ongoing social experiment, based on twitter. inspired by wefeelfine and drawing data from summize, hand-crafted by amy hoy and…

WND Wind DUO 2200 – two mobile phones crammed into a single body

The WND Wind DUO 2200 incorporates two screens, two SIMs, two keypads, two colours and a 2.0 megapixel camera on each side. So yes, madam, we’re talking two mobile phones combined in one here, which seems perfect for those who have trouble deciding which shoes to wear. Apparently the battery will give 180 hours standby, but we’re wondering what happens if both phones ring at once, do you have to sort of twirl the thing around like a top to conduct…

Doggy Dream Homes – the ultimate dog house for your pampered pet

Doggy Dream Homes. Er…what is there to say about this? So we’re all for equal rights for our canine brothers and sisters, but when they start living in accommodation that’s better than our own, well that’s just not right, is it? Frilly chintz curtains, decorative ‘doggy doors’, air-conditioning? This is just not a good trend to start! Pretty soon they’ll start demanding their own mobile phone, then the use of the SUV at weekends, and it’ll all be over. You…

59% of Los Angeles house sales are foreclosures? – huh?

According to this blog report 59% of Los Angeles houses for sale are foreclosures? 55% in Palo Alto? What the…? 217 comments. And the map above.  I completely understand why anyone (especially someone living in one of these areas) might have some doubt and a hard time swallowing it. With that said, we always encourage individuals who have a similar stance to physically go to their Recorder’s office and ask for all the data. We have even had some literally…

Bangkok market train – train meet market, market meet train

For some surreal and bizarre reason the Maeklong Market in Bangkok, Thailand is  built smack on top of a working train line. Eight times a day the market parts like the Red Sea to let trains through, and then returns to normal business. Apparently only two lives have been lost in twenty years. More here Maeklong Market video 1 – from the front as train approaches. Maeklong Market video 2 – footage from the back of the train Tags: maeklong+market, bangkok+thailand

P.I.C.C. – up to 5 times the gas mileage…or your camel back

The P.I.C.C. (or Pre-Ignition Catalytic Converter) system is a ‘breakthrough’ in automotive engineering folks. That’s right bring your chairs closer while we describe how our scientific testing has ‘led us to believe’ that the mileage of all personal vehicles will increase to over 100 miles per gallon. Oh we can hear you scoff and chuckle, but you’ll see Mr & Mrs Cynic, you’ll see. Why even now, we’re well on the way to perfecting our Hydro-Assist Fuel Cell which will…

Snipe It Game – weird electronic game inspired by online auction tactics

Snipe It Game. This electronic trivia game is apparently inspired by the tactic of sniping on eBay whereby you bid for an item in the last seconds of an auction in order to prevent others outbidding you. No we kid you not, with this game it’s not how fast you answer, but whether you’re the last one to give the right answer before the timer goes. What the…? $19.97.  Name a flavor of ice cream: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry. You know tons…

American Heritage – the official luxury coach of the American road

American Heritage. If you like travelling, you might consider getting one of these babies. Hand laid wallpaper, polished porcelain tile floor with accents, choice of five wood finishes and a tidy little 600 HP Cummins diesel engine to move it all along nicely. List price sits at around $750,000 with basic trim, so you may want to consider trading up the Winnebago first. Tags: american+heritage, luxury+coach, rv

Russian SUV – chug, rumble, crash, tinkle…

This Russian SUV conversion goes to show that where there’s a will – and a 13.6 ton armoured personnel carrier – there’s a way. You wouldn’t want to travel large distances in this though, would you? Not at 3 inches to the gallon or whatever it does.  The mechanical gear stick was replaced with electronic joystick which is connected to electro driven gear box. Now they can switch the gears as easy as on a video game, before one had to have a huge muscle…
