Greasemap.

Greasemap is a cool little freeware tool that automatically embeds a Google map at the top of the screen when you browse a web page with an address on it. It needs Greasemonkey in order to work. I had it installed for a bit, but turned it off when I found it was slowing down my page accesses a bit. Still, pretty cool tech all round.  Greasemap…augments any web page you visit by searching the page for geocodeable addresses or other…

Phonifier.

Yes yes Skweezer does it too, but hear the man out, why don’t you? Tsk.  PHONifier was initially developed to optimize webpages automatically. You set PHONifier.com to be your mobile homepage and then surf the web through the PHONifier proxy. Alternatively, you could install the PHONifier script on your server…

Project Internet chat.

Project Gizmo. OK listen up. It’s another day, and another Skype bashing free Internet telephone program. Yes? No? Who cares?  It springs fairy-like from Michael ‘MP3.COM’ Robertson’s brain, which could be good or bad depending on your religion.  Plus points –  SIP compatible, as opposed to Skype proprietary P2P.   Call recording built in. Free voicemail (Skype charges for this). Negative points? The Michael Robertson hype machine? More here. It’s Your Call, good people of earth. <applause>  With the click of a mouse, you’re connected to friends,…

Cellphone assistant.

Remote Labs’ Mobile Activity Tracker software. Pre-release freebie Symbian mobile phone organiser program which lets you sort out your muddled yet cheery life. Or something. Piggy Bank.

Simile Piggy Bank. Yet more cool geek tech. This time it involves screen scraping, RDF and occasionally the odd Google Map. It’s a neat time to be a browser, let me tell ya.  Piggy Bank is an extension to the Firefox web browser that extracts information from existing web pages and stores it in RDF…Having extracted the “pure” information and stored it on your computer, Piggy Bank can now apply its own user interface to let you browse through that information…
