More reader knowledge…

Following up on the Weeno site of before, here’s the How to: By You site. You fill in the knowledge – how to make a grilled cheese sandwich, catch fish, set up your own website etc etc. Sort of a collaborative blog but with explanations/advice rather than comments. Interesting idea. ‘This sociological project is about the study of knowledge among human society and how it can differ and change.’ Not sure what this means though.

Pioneering module.

Japanese mega brand Pioneer looks to be putting the ‘in’ into integrated in-car entertainment with the launch of the AVH P7500DVD unit. ‘The AVH P7500DVD brings the cinema direct to the car. It includes a fully featured car stereo, built in AV Master, DVD-V and DVD-A player and a fully motorised 7-inch touch panel display.’

Hush now…

These Hush Technologies PCs look really really nice. And I suspect that they’re really really quiet too. ‘Ergonomics, stability and silence are our three watchwords and our focus is on case design, cooling systems and consultancy. Designed and built in Stuttgart, home of Mercedes and Porsche.’

Random rope trick…

Hmmm, this is freaky. As far as I can tell the Paypal Randomizer is a sort of PayPal lotto system. You sign up, send in your $20 and it goes to someone random on the list. After that you wait around until you receive random payments of $20 from other suckers, sorry members, who sign up. ‘Let’s first of all get this out of the way, this is not a MLM, pyramid, gifting, or get rich quick scheme. This is…

Television 101

Interesting article from SFGate which aims to throw some light on the US television business. Why so many repeats (reruns?) and so on. Worth a scan.

Gigabeat

I know that I wasn’t going to feature any more iPod type clones, but the Toshiba Gigabeat [warning: Japanese] looks funky enough to warrant closer attention. It’s got all the right specs – USB 2.0, 20GB disk, neat software etc, but it also has that indefinable cool factor which so many of the others lack.

Subway art

The Subway Outlaws site offers a detailed and captivating look at the New York subway graffiti movement of yesteryear. Whether you think it’s amazing or an abomination, it’s fascinating to read about the folks who actually did all that stuff.

Halloween fun…?

I know it’s Halloween soon, but even so dis weird! I got a spam trying to sell me the recipe to Kitty Litter Cake for $5.00. Er…a 2 second search of Google reveals 6,980 results/recipes. Here’s one (not the spam)

Stop thief.

The Advanced Theft System from Future Data Systems (who don’t appear to have a Web site – tsk) is a car alarm system which calls the owner’s mobile phone immediately the car is snatched. The 420.00 system then continues to text the owner with GPS map coordinates to help police locate it. Oh yeah, and the owner can text back to immobilise the engine when the car is next halted.

Human chess…

Human Chess is where ‘a chess game played by chess champions will be mirrored by humans standing on street corners. Each person playing the role of a chess piece will be contacted via cellphone or pager which will let them know how to move along the gameboard. Only in New York eh? Sheesh!

Weeno, do you?

Weeno. ‘Weeno is a website where we encourage the free exchange of knowledge.’ Kinda like an online repository of reader’s tips. Nice idea, although clearly in early stages.
