DIY Helicopter – belts, braces, chewing gum and courage…

This DIY Helicopter has been built from scrap metal and an old van engine by three enterprising chaps from Somaliland in Africa. Actually they’re not enterprising, they’re either a) mad as March hares, b) the bravest men ever to walk the earth (assuming it ever tries to take off or c) pranksters of the finest order. We’ll leave it to your discretion, dear reader, to make the choice, but I suggest you watch the video first to get the full flavour….

4GB Cross Necklace Digital Video Recorder – capture those pious little moments

This 4GB Cross Necklace Digital Video Recorder is something of a wonder, is it not dear reader? Let us give pause for a moment, and consider which amongst us might be tempted to record their lives in this unseemly way? Surely there be no man here who feels threatened so greatly that they would take upon themselves this spycam of sorrow? Bow your heads as ye proffer $45.00 for the fact.  This cross spy camcorder looks really fashion as it is in front of…

Pet High Chair – Because animals should eat at the table

This Pet High Chair restores my faith in the human ability to design and build stuff. Because of inventions like this we’ll have jetpacks and cancer cures and bases on Mars in spite of people telling us that it can’t be done. The chair clips onto the side of a table just like the portable kids’ high chair. There are a couple of clips you can attach to pooch’s collar to keep it in the chair whether it likes it…

Accudot Laser Boresight – from the totally What The…R Us? Dept

Um…so this Accudot Laser Boresight is a ho-hum little laser beam gizmo you place into the chamber of a rifle to sight it up accurately. Slot it in and the laser will indicate where you’re pointing the business end. But what makes this totally post worthy is the fact that the product is on the Toys R Us kiddy site. HUH? And the comments underneath are beyond priceless comedy gold. $39.99. [Update: HaHa, they’ve pulled the page and replaced it with a new one to get rid of the…

Plasmacluster Ion Generator – Clean your air with plasma

I understand the words, but their meaning escapes me. This Sharp Plasmacluster Ion Generator is for the car and it apparently purifies the air. I’ll take two if it removes the horrible new car smell. It’s the perfect size to fit in a car cup holder and is powered by the cigarette lighter. From there, you’re seriously on your own as the manual is in Japanese. US$160 from GeekStuff4U. The same positive and negative ions found in nature are created…

Intelligent Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Wireless Camera – Clean and spies

I’m sure that by someone inventing this Intelligent Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Wireless Camera we take ourselves one step closer to HAL. It’s an autonomous robot vacuum cleaner that will patrol your house keeping down the rampant dust bunnies. But, that’s not all. It’s also a security device with wireless IP enabled camera (1-25fps @ VGA resolution) and microphone so you can not only monitor what’s going on in the house but also interact with the people burgling it via…

Mini Zen Water Fountain – Very cheap and cheerful desktop fountain

Nothing chills you out faster that a bubbling fountain, and with this Mini Zen Water Fountain you can attain one-ness and bliss right at your desk. The only catch is you have to pump the fountain yourself. Hang on, isn’t that what USB was invented for? Sigh. US$4 and you have to supply your own water, or gin or whatever. [Via Book of Joe] There’s nothing more calming than sitting by a burbling fountain. Problem is, there isn’t always a…

Winait CD130BT Digital Camera – Ultra thin camera

I was just looking at my digital SLR the other day and lamenting the fact that it wasn’t 14mm thick. Silly me! I should have picked up one of these Winait CD130BT digital cameras. Sure they can only shoot at 640×480 and the 64MB of onboard RAM can only hold 52 VGA images but so what? This camera is 13.5mm thick, with an f2.8 lens, optical view finder, and it can shoot 10 images per second. Not bad for US$24.99….

Bling Band Aid – You sure do need first aid

I fear we are rapidly approaching our own unique brand of the shoe event horizon. Behold the Bling Band Aid, for when an ordinary, peeling, dirty band aid just isn’t going to cut it. Comes studded with four Swarovski crystals which apparently now have healing powers. Miraculously they’re currently sold out. US$12 when they’re not. What’s next, Swarovski encrusted aspirin?
