Rota – freeware lets you rotate your photographs with no loss of image quality

Rota is a freeware program that lets you rotate your photographs without harming the image quality. Pretty useful if you’re doing a lot of vertical type shooting.  Loss-less JPEG Rotation doesn’t de-compress JPEG image completely and moves intermediate data from-to rotate 90/180/270 degrees position. It doesn’t cause loss of image quality. The samples shown above do loss-less JPEG rotation 4 times by Rota. No loss of image quality occurred. Tags: rota, lossless+image+rotation, photography

30 Alternatives to Adobe Acrobat – getting out from under…

30 Alternatives to Adobe Acrobat. Title says it all really. Me, I’m in love with the fast and elegant PDF Download extension for Firefox, which doesn’t seem to be on the list. So that makes 31 right?  While Acrobat has proven to be a sufficient choice for any kind of PDF needs, there are plenty of drawbacks to this software that people need to know about, and there are plenty of good alternatives. For starters, if you do any kind…

Drive Sentry – tri-security firewall software protects your machine and your removable drives

Drive Sentry. Freeware package which offers firewall protection using a slew of security features, including maintaining a local list of trusted programs and a malware blacklist. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but the story sounds good from here. I also like the fact that they’ve got a portable version which protects your USB drives from attack if you plug them in to someone else’s machine. Sounds very useful and definitely worth checking out if you’re in…

Hugin – free panorama maker

Hugin is a free panorama tool, or rather a front end for a set of panorama making tools. It’s not totally fire and forget, but then again what panorama software is? And the good thing about this utility is the ability to tweak settings to the nth degree, which means you’ve got a better chance of getting a good result if some of your shots are a little dodgy. Don’t forget to download and install autopano too. There’s a useful…

Anti Keylogger Shield – protect your computer against keyloggers

Anti Keylogger Shield. This small Windows freeware utility prevents keyloggers from monitoring and storing your key presses. The interesting thing about this little prog is it doesn’t use databases or anything, so no need to update files to keep up with new keylogger technology. Just install and forget. The installation is instant, and it runs invisibly in the background with no fuss or muss, which is neat. I can’t say whether it works for everything 100%, but it sure sounds…

The install is a…
