The Snake.

The Iqua Snake HHF-801 Bluetooth headrest handsfree unit. Man, those Finnish designers can really dig up the minimalist stuff when they try, can’t they? I mean brushed metal and real leather, with a call status LED too? Whoosh!  It wirelessly connects to a compatible phone via Bluetooth technology. The built-in microphone and speaker offer excellent handsfree operation with easy installation on the headrest of most car seats.

SmartGolfer.

The Smart Golfer Laser Putting Alignment System. More high tech comes to the sports biz. Now if only these were allowed in tournaments, we could have some real ding dong battles…what? Oh they’re not that kind of laser. Sorry. $49.95.  The same player using the LPAS for the first time will be astonished at where he has been aiming and, when his aim at address is corrected, may miss everything left. However, consistent use of the LPAS will bring perception…

Eye Catcher VideoPhone.

The Eye Catcher VideoPhone. So it’s a ‘broadband personal videophone’. What’s different? Well for one thing you don’t look at a screen, you look at a mirror, so it’s eye to eye, not eye to camera. The other difference? Well how about £6,255.99?  Picture quality and sound are fantastic – the shortcomings of videoconferencing or video mobiles are completely overcome. The Eye Catcher is the first of its kind and combines real-time eye contact with an almost lifesize broadcast-quality picture. Pleasure, surprise,…

Keyboard begone.

KITTY TECH – Keyboard Independent Touch Typing Technology. Er…in other words a replacement for the keyboard using ‘spiralling, printed-electric-circuit wires’. What does that mean? Hmm…well it looks as though you ‘type’ letters by holding various fingers and thumbs together in different permutations. Ah well, it’s from the University of California, Irvine, so that’s all right isn’t it?  Mission Objective: To provide an ultra-portable ‘silent’ data-input device for wearable computing systems promising wide consumer acceptance due to zero learning curve for those…

Loud Hailer?

The Farrevo Horn. There are so many questions we want to ask about this product. Why would you want a personal loud hailer strapped quite so close to your ear? Do you have to look like a Bavarian landowner to use one (i.e. is it designed for yodelling only)? Can it double up as a hearing aid? Will it really replace walkie talkies? But I’m afraid that these questions will have to wait until we learn Japanese.

Card sharp.

The new Fujifilm DCR2–161 16–in-1 card reader and USB hub is certainly uber versatile, but I can’t help thinking that we poor consumers really shouldn’t have to deal with 16 different memory card formats for our devices, should we? If we had a bit more gumption we’d complain to to the manufacturers in a language they understand, by not buying into every crummy new format – you listening Sony? – and thereby force them to consolidate down to a more reasonable…
