iRobot ConnectR – the virtual visiting robot, for your virtually remote relatives

The iRobot ConnectR is a spooky piece of kit. They’re calling it a ‘virtual visiting robot’, but really it’s just a webcam on wheels. OK, so it’s a pretty sophisticated webcam, complete with wide angle and zoom modes, but it’s really not that exciting is it? The weird thing is the marketing which is pitching it at ‘busy parents’. So what, you go on holiday to the Bahamas and keep tabs on little Johnny with this perambulating orange monster? Yeah,…

Picspay – get paid for uploading your photos

Picspay is a new Malaysian based service that actually pays you (via Paypal) for uploading and storing your photos on their servers. Yep, weird huh? Clearly they’re hoping for enough Adsense moolah to cover the bandwidth and disk space costs. It’s a bold – some would perhaps say even foolish – move and we can just wait and see how it goes. Oh..and no adult material!  How much can I earn? It greatly depends on how many unique page views you receive, if…

Testcard TV – watch your favourite shows and movies for free online

Testcard TV. OK, so again we’re not quite sure how these guys are getting away with it, but the site features a ton of top quality shows and movies streamed for free on demand. The video quality is good and bad, as is the streaming quality. We got a lot of stuttering on popular stuff like Heroes which made it unwatchable, but no problems with less well known programming. Nope, don’t ask about licensing, or we might have to shoot you….

Graffiti Train – tag your own rail carriage for fun and posterity

The Graffiti Train is a model railway carriage that comes with a set of suitably def decals that you can stick where you like without fear of transport police hounding you down and beating you to within an inch of your miserable worthless life. So if you’ve ever had an urge to hang upside down on a rope from a railway bridge and spray TRAKZZ on the wall, now’s your chance to indulge. Safely and legally. Does that do it for…

Diet Fork – lose weight via useless implements

Diet Fork. This little doozy promises to help you lose weight because it doesn’t work. That’s right a fork which has short dull teeth so you can’t pick food up with it. It’s also designed to be uncomfortable so you have to put it down often. Next week, a knife made out of asparagus. $8.95 for a 10 pack. […and we love the tag line – ‘Making Dieting Fun!’ er riight!]  Key Factors * Shorter and dulled teeth inhibiting user…

Jet Powered Sinclair C5 – three wheeled whoosh?

A jet powered Sinclair C5? They’re kidding right? Well apparently not, and nor is the Air Research JFS100-13A engine. The videos are kind of hilarious in a ‘what the…?’ kind of way. [via The Reg]   What a blessing these wheels are and very reasonably priced to. With a Jet on the back the existing wheels weren’t going to deal with the loads put on them. These wheels and brakes were purchased of ebay from a very helpful chap called…
